By Jon LeSage Audi wants to cut costs by 10 billion euros ($12 billion) by 2022 while pressure mounts from the diesel emission scandal and the transition over to electric vehicles.
Most of that cost savings will come from cutting research and development expenditures, sources close to the matter told Reuters. More funds will be needed to roll out the intended five all-electric models in the near future, starting with the Audi e-tron Quattro SUV that starts production next year.
