Kokam to develop 36-MW energy storage system for KEPCO

Kokam Co., a global provider of innovative battery technology, has been awarded a contract to develop a 36-MW (13-MWh) energy storage system (ESS) for frequency regulation at the Non-Gong substation in South Korea. The project is for South Korea’s largest utility, Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO).
The ESS will feature a combination of two unique Kokam Lithium-ion battery technologies: the Ultra-high Power Nickel Manganese Cobalt battery and the NANO battery technology. Work on the project began in June 2016
