By Renewable Energy World Leeward Renewable Energy said it completed construction and started operations of its 100 MW Rabbitbrush Solar Facility in Kern County, California. The project includes a 20 MW, 50 MWh battery energy storage system.
Energy generated by the project will serve two not-for-profit, community-owned electricity providers, Central Coast Community Energy and Silicon Valley Clean Energy, through two 15-year power purchase agreements (PPAs).
McCarthy Building Cos. was the EPC contractor. The project includes more than 415,000 First Solar thin-film photovoltaic modules.
Rabbitbrush is Central Coast Community Energy’s second solar-plus-storage PPA to come online this year.
