Report finds 2017 was a year of utility warfare against distributed energy resources

By Kelsey Misbrener The N.C. Clean Energy Technology Center released its 2017 annual review and Q4 update edition of The 50 States of Solar. The report showed utilities pushed hard to increase minimum bills or monthly fixed charges on all residential customers—84 utilities requested increases in 35 states plus D.C. Another 19 utility requests in 10 states to add new or increase existing charges specific to rooftop solar customers were pending or decided in 2017.
